First light filters through gauzy curtains,
dimly reaching the far corners of my room.
Slowly my eyes shake off the last vestiges of sleep
and my aging body resolutely follows suit.

I dreamed of you last night,
running with abandon in a deep forest glen;
diamonds glistened in your hair as you flew by.
Happy laughter reverberated through the forest
and I just knew that the world was smiling with you.
The word beauty was written with you in mind,
God's creation, you are my angel of life.
On the musty bank of a stream you took pause
to gaze into dark tannin stained waters
for the quickest glimpse of a fin or a turtle,
your wonderful curiosity that never fades.
A child of the earth you are, will always be,
as long as I have breath, I will never stop loving you.

Sitting up, I notice the light is stronger now.
Morning coffee fragrance fills the air
and slowly the dream is replaced by thoughts of today,
things needing to be done, errands to run,
but thank you my darling, for sharing with me,
in sleep's chambers...I love you.
