Eyes flicker
but not as fast as the heart
And the pulse races something back to the mind
as I wrestle with my inertia
and an insane blanket.

"Get up!
Walk and be awake," mind dictates to two cold legs.
But purpose lacks while thoughts run lose.
Like thoughts of early breakfasts
- reckless.

But stomachs churn and
thirst recurrs
And all cold legs some time must stir
as errant ideas become currents
and jolt right through.

Thoughts of things further flare
the newfound hunger everwhere.
Covers, kicked, fall apart
as mind carries through
it's plan.

Lights go on.
Hands reach in a daze
Water runs new life to the face.
Warmth melts
solid chunks of inertia.

Legs carry stomach in strides
to rooms sans awareness.
And doors open and close
from fridge to shelf.
As cartons of milk
like magic appear.

The cereal bowl
comes to my hands by itself
And the milk pours into it
following some supreme order.

The microwave buzzes
like the noise in my mind.
Throws me with it's final "TING!"
like my estranged alarm clock.

Darkness exists outside parted curtains
as I stare into it mouth agape.
And then it hits me -
I am up at three!
A crazy girl who needs to type
random words.

DAMN! is taken already

so I'll have to say DAYUM! instead.

The microwave buzzes

like the noise in my mind.

Love that.

A crazy girl who needs to type

random words.

And that.

A crazy girl who needs to type...

random words. Your not alone. Working till almost ten at night...I often share the witching hours with all the "random words" running through my brain, speaking them aloud, softly, so as not to wake wife or daughter. I truly felt a kinship with you while reading this piece. Write, type, till your fingers are numb! It keeps the ghosts from the past away...giving atleast something to trade for the nights of lost sleep. Loved it...thank you. I selfishly hope your insomnia stays intact...gives me more of your words to read ;)

No really, that's all I had to day. wickedly witty fun in a mildly disturbing way. And so familiar. :D
