Click hereIs it reason that makes us beautiful?
The Mind that slices up
The World and defines it?
Gives it structure,
Gives it life?
Is it reason that makes live livable?
Tells us right from wrong,
Makes us
Daughters
Wives
and Mothers?
Is it reason that raises us above the animals,
Above the hunks of meat and blood
That make
Our bodies?
That puts one foot before the other
And keeps us moving
Right or wrong.
Keeps us upright?
Keeps us mobile?
Lets us work?
Lets us play?
Makes us us?
Reason stops the planet
Breaks it down
To study.
Makes it black and white
It hides the gray
Creates the pallette
Forms the world
And holds it in
Its place
I said goodbye to reason.
“I don’t need you go away!”
“Let me live the way I want to?”
“Let me shape my world-
myself.”
But if you’ll will it,
Let me ask you.
Is it reason plainly put,
That makes us human?
That makes people?
Leads our lives
From start
To not?
Is it reason?
Oh please tell me!
Is it reason?
I need to know.
Is it reason?
Is it structure?
Is it goodness?
Is it what?
Another verse with a philosophical bent
Asking deep questions demanding answers
What makes life so special?
