In the glove box
of my Grand Marquis
are scribbled addresses.

One of them is yours,
and I will find you;
tomorrow is the day.

I’ll pick up the phone
and call you by name
for the first time in twenty-two years.

You will hear the ring of justice
and I’ll be on the other end,
and soon, sweetie, it is the past you will hear.

The letters have been written,
and I wonder if you’ll scream
the way she did that day in your room.

~~

Love the various possible meanings here but they all come down to having the chickens coming home to roost. Otherwise known as payback.

Finally?

It sounds like payback is finally here; the sins of the past coming due!!

So sweet!

This sounds too good -- the past coming back to haunt. CP
