Click hereI watched the sun set
Over the still horizon
Where nothing stirred
The Hatter and I long pondered
Staring down the hill
At the strange goings on
All the wanderings and wonderings
Seemingly at random
But from where we sat, a pattern emerged
Repeatedly it circled
As it valiantly tried to make itself known
To have its silent cry heard
A single drop rolled down my face
To slide down my cheek
And drip from my chin
Screaming my own silence
I stood up with sudden force
And walked down the hill, at an impossible angle
Into the wood I went
No weird creatures to be found
The very trees were silent and holding still
Another drop of salt water escaped
For I believed myself now abandoned
Deeper into the shadowy growth I traveled
I walked until I was weary
And the sun was once again setting
As I looked into the canopy of leaves, I saw glowing eyes
They blinked and saw me
How I strained when breathing
All the pain I carried, my own and others'
Wedge shaped the giant head was
Curling emerald smoke escaped its nostrils from time to time
And wicked sabre teeth abounded in its maw
"Walk with me" the Jabberwock said
For it could be no other creature
Because I saw no reason not to, walk next to it, I did
We still walk side by side
But now we see eye to eye
As dragon to serpent, we are one heart and one mind
