Stale smoke and the sickly sweet scent of old beer fill the space I now call my world.

Panties stained and left behind stick out from under some torn apart pillow like a pennant or flag of conquest.

The smell of sex and urine or is it the spoiled food hangs in the still air to remind me of the life I chose.

Condom wrappers litter the floor joined by the stains from those used when they were no longer needed.

Cigarette butts piled in and around trays left wherever a place could be found are a godsend as I fish through them looking for one to light.

There is no ceremony in falling into a moist cushion or the sticky arm of a couch to try to clear my head.

If only I could walk away from this like I walked away from you.
Was it five months ago or six.
Time has no place in my life now, people come and go or at least I think they do.

Some stay, just sleep until daylight or the bar opens or, whatever, who am I to ask.

The gods smile on me as I spy an unopened bottle.
I can try this clear my head thing later, after all one more beer can’t hurt and it may just quiet these silly feelings and thoughts.

A leg, who’s, I don’t think I know her.
Hey wake up, hey, didn’t you hear me, wake up.
Hey, who the hell do you think you are, wake the hell up.

“ Hey Capt.”
“ I know, this one’s a beaut, he’s still talking to her and the corona removed her body an hour ago “
