I was king for a day,
My queen and I played.
We had a lot of fun,
Like a couple of kids in the sun.

I hope for more days like that,
I'll go down swinging my bat.
No strikes or balls,
No umpire to make a call.

My mind is clear,
I've lost all my fear.
Red rover, red rover,
I don't want the game to be over.

I just want to play,
To have my queen stay.
Take a boat into the bay,
Maybe roll in the hay.

I want to have fun,
Show her she's number one.
Let her know there cannot be another,
And to say the words I desperately want to udder.

Time slips away,
The company of another day.
Each dawn is another start,
But it draws closer to the day we part.

The day will come too soon,
When I see the blue moon.
I don't want to rule alone,
Or sit by an empty throne.

My queen means the world to me,
And this I want the world to see.
I don't want hope to die,
For when it does, so will I.

Love and hope makes the world go 'round,
This is what leads to happy sounds.
The tickle of a feather,
The smile and laughter could get no better.

Whether it be months or years,
The day of parting brings great fears.
For one of us will be alone,
The other cold to the bone.

But, until the end,
Life I will bend.
My queen and I will play,
I'll be king for a day.
