The snipping sniping biting Cold
Excites the young and chills the old.
The Young that share their body heat
Next to hearth fire and under sheets
Snuggled under heavy quilts
With heated whispers in lovers lilts.
The Old curse the aching in their bones
Bitter as immortal stones
Envious of the pleasured young
Unhappy with the song they've sung.
The aged regret, as will the new
As human hearts are prone to do.
