You closed your eyes for the last time
Looking down at you I thought I would loose my mind
I sat there unbelieving, just holding your hand
This wasn’t our plan
This isn’t how it was supposed to end
No time left for parties or even boyfriends
You were supposed to have your life ahead of you
Time to do all the things you wanted to do
You closed your eyes and your time stopped
In death’s web you were caught
Only sixteen, so young
With all the fight you could muster you clung
But in the end you had to leave
The pain so great, you had to find reprieve
The choice made for you
Before you even had a chance to
My tears fall hard and heavy
The room growing dark and bleary
Still holding your hand, not wanting to tell you goodbye
Just for a few moments longer wanting you by my side
Knowing that once I let go nothing will ever be the same
Life as I knew it will change
Still the world goes on
In life’s game you were just a pawn
Although you have found peace
There will be no peace for me
Shaking trying to find a way
For strength I pray
For I truly need to know
