lets collapse this distance between us
lets burst it like a balloon filled with
thoughts dreams sugars and creams
and full as a honeydew moon.

we are the masters of our wishes
and we are the mistresses of pain
we can be anything we can be anything
when our heart overrules our brain.

so offer yourself up on the altar
built of stone and hid deep in the wood
watch the cross as it burns down to ashes
and sacrifice to all that feels good.

let the pleasures you seek drip upon you
let the sins of the flesh sing a tune
as we collapse this distance between us
and watch it burst like a honeydew moon.

Such powerful words, Steve, and elegantly done. Liar is right, this would make a great song.

Melody

Very nice. I read this twice, and my the end of the second read, I was singing the text in a Dylan-esque folk rock drone. :) It has that phrasing that lends itself easily to music.
