Little puppies first fright

byDreamCatcherPoet©

I saw a little puppy,
Who lived on a farm.
He lies beside his mother,
Safe from harm.

He cuddled up softly,
And suckled her breast.
While his mother slept,
Getting her rest.

Soon he wanted to run,
Jump and play.
So from beside his mother,
He soon would stray.

Then he curiously looked’
Everywhere around.
Yes, he looked everywhere,
But there was no friend to be found.

Then he saw a little chicken,
He thought could be his friend,
But soon it was his little nose,
That it pecked in the end.

Just then he spotted,
A grumpy old pig.
Which soon he decided,
Was much too grumpy and big.

He ran to the pasture,
He saw a horse and a cow.
Again they were not his size,
This he easily saw now.

He ran to the farmhouse,
Searching for someone to play.
And ran straight into a mean old dog,
That on the porch he did lay.

That mean old dog snarled at him,
He though it would surly bite.
With his glaring mean eyes,
And huge sharp teeth what a sight.

He turned and quickly ran,
Running from this newfound fright.
Trying as hard as he could to escape,
The growling old dogs site.

He ran back to his mother,
Yes, behind her to hind.
And as he peaked from behind her he promised,
Never again to leave the safety of her side.

Just then his mother awoke,
And sleepily looked around.
And just as she had left him,
She spotted her little puppy, safe and sound…BWL
