I cry out your name
as I disinfect my memories
in a river of iodine tears.

You have a life of your own
no time left for me-
lost and forgotten
I lay here screaming.

So many phrases I should have said
but my swollen tongue wouldn't let me.
so now I call you a hundred times a day
just to hear you breathing.

When I think of your switchblade smile
I slip into dreams of a love that made me crazy.
there were so many things I needed from you;
now all I see are the promises I've broken
that lay shattered at my feet.

I wanted to love the man;
but became enchanted by the images of you
I created in my mind.

What could have been Love
is now a long time gone.
