AUTHOR'S NOTE: this poem is about the things we do to ourselves without even thinking. A famous quote says: I have seen the enemy... it is me...

Looking glass shattered and swept away
Fractured senses confuse and betray
Instinctive perception starts to decay
Turns master to pupil, hunter to prey

Hidden intentions to starve and deprave
Assaulting the will to devour the slave
Precision attacks to crumble the walls
Punish eternal when defenses dissolve

Exacted measures of cure and pain
Bandage the soul to bleed again
Stitching wounds only to sever anew
Damage perceived yet hidden from view

Looking glass shattered and swept away
Broken remains of the battles today
A war that is lost before it begins
My own little Hell as seen from within...
