There's a darkness inside us all
But, if we give in, then from grace we fall
Though at times its so inviting
And we tire of the fighting

We're supposed to stay in the light
Because that's whats considered right
We're taught to fear the dark, and all that it hides
And never question the otherworldly divides

Some of us tire, of being naive
So we look past, what others believe
There is so much more to learn
But for knowledge and power, others yearn

They give in to their deepest desire
And end up broken, empty, lying on a funeral pyre
For not all men can handle the truth
That we're lied to since youth

There's more to this life, than can ever be explained
So in this fragile form, we stay chained
For the safety of all mankind
Its better for most of us to remain blind

But to a select few that know what lies beyond
We will one day return, to the maker from which we were spawned
Where we will watch over those left behind
And guide them on a path to meet us, in due time

Some require the assistance
Of those on another plane of existence
While others try to make their own path
And end up invoking otherworldly wrath

When it comes to the powers that be
There is something or someone, most of us will agree
Working behind the scenes, guiding fate's hand
Leading us all, to the promised land
