I will consume the tears
That roll down my face
And across my lips

I will allow my grief
To sear Life's tender leaves
With lines of pain etched

With stitches of agony
Bound with knots
Of horror and insanity

I will refuse to ask god:
"Please make me a stone . . . "
And I will

Listen to the tones
Of anguish and loss
That roll out of my mouth

To mingle with the tears
That drop like molten lava
Into my being

And burn away at the core
Wherein lies the store
Of all that Love has lost

I will pay the cost
To cross the River
And continue on this path

No matter that nothing lasts
I will continue on
Though ashes

Fill my mouth
Blind my eyes
And fill my ears

With the decay
Of all that I was
And all that I loved . . .

This poem was mentioned in Wednesday's New Poems Reviews. In fact, I recommended that all your pieces here today be viewed. Nice job.
