Our eyes meet from across the room,
What a perfect surprise in this doom and gloom,
Your face is a beautiful ray of light
In this dark place, this refuge from the night.

Wordlessly you turn in your seat and I leave mine,
What moments ago was pain now feels fine,
A weight is lifted from my chest as I weave my way
Through the noise and the crowd to the seat where you stay.

Chance has brought us both searching this night,
For a place in the dark where we can find something right,
We have sought each other through more than we know
Who would have thought this dark place would bring us happiness so?

Tears fill my eyes as you take me in your arms,
Wrapping them around me you fend off all of life’s harms,
It has been too long you say as you wipe my eyes
Our lips meet in love’s long-lost kiss, so simple, so nice.

You grip my hand tightly and rise to your feet,
I follow you back through the crowd and up to the street,
We walk silently in the darkness and without asking I know
This time it is forever, you will never again let me go.
