Love is joy
When years ago
As passions were rife
I asked you the question
Please be my wife

Love is tenderness
Gentle caresses
Like the flow of the tide
The contentment I felt
Asleep by your side

Love is happiness
Asleep on the floor
Awaiting that call
The birth of our daughter
A baby so small

Love is despair
They've sent me away
Our first seperation
Alone in my cell
And my desolation

Love is helplessness
Those months you were ill
That time of my life
You needed me most
I couldnt help my wife

Love is a thrill
As each visit comes round
The sweetest lady in the land
I sit there with you
And just hold your hand

Love is sadness
Again we must part
Two hours pass so fast
One more lingering kiss
More tender than the last

Love is anticipation
Looking through my window
As I turn the key
Will there be a letter?
From you, waiting for me

Love is disappointment
As the door opens
All my hopes die
The bed is empty
The postman passed me by

Love is forgiveness
With understanding
And yours is mine
To err is human
Your love - divine

Love is sharing
Our hopes and our fears
And soon I'll be free
Kim - my darling
Stand by me
