There is a line,
A faded line

That marks our once strong love.
------------------------------------------------
The missing ring,
The golden ring,

Not given away but taken back.
------------------------------------------------
The sun starved skin,
Now exposed flesh

Reminding me of our life now gone.
------------------------------------------------
You tossed it away,
Discarded without care

The marriage that we shared.
------------------------------------------------
Our time together,
Years spent in companionship

Past, present and future lost.
-------------------------------------------------
What now?
What to do?

Live the life I wanted, but without you
------------------------------------------------
Lament time wasted,
Mourn dead tomorrows

And drink lonely todays.

One line . . .

. . . says it all: Past, present and future lost. So sad, mournful and pessimistic, indicating this is a recent loss.
