Every time I look at you
My heart just fills with pain.
For a love I fear we'll never know
And a life I fear I'll hate.

When I used to think of you
It would always make me smile.
Every moment I spent with you
Made my life worthwhile.

But now all that I ever see
Are the guys you'd rather know,
The things that you would rather do,
And the places you'd rather go.

All of these have a common trait
That is so painful to see
But in this life that you create
It's clear that there's no place for me.

I will always be your friend
Because that was my promise,
But I'll ever live in pain
For our life that I will miss.

When this life is over
I will follow you through time,
But I hope there is no heaven
That will force you to be mine.

I'd rather live in silent pain
So that you're free to choose,
But how could I ever love somebody else
After all that we've been through?

The world has become so dark and gray
As I feel you slip away,
But I stand beside you, come what may
It's so beautiful that you choose my fate
My heart is forever yours this way
I promise to love you, forever and a day.
