Madison is my niece.

~

Once the size and weight of a can of pop,
this little girl lived to be
a nine year old prisoner of her body.

Barely walking,
she teaches everyone about worth
without even speaking a word.
And I wonder if she even hears me
when I try to soothe her cries.

Directly or not...

The greatest teachers of all

sometimes don't even know they're giving the lesson.

I lost my niece last year. She had similar problems. This touched me.
