I felt
Your eyes narrowing at me
From six hundred and fifty miles away
My flippant arrogance pushed you
And methodically You pushed me back
Into the corner and onto my knees
Then verbally beat me senseless
We stared at each other through a haze
Mine made of hurt and new found fear
Yours made of anger and victory
When the mist cleared
We remembered what we had forgotten
I forgot respect for the stronger
You forgot mercy for the weaker
And remembering made us forgive
I see you differently
As I know you do me
But oddly
The distance
is shorter
now
