He sits alone, desperately pretending
To read the book which sits longingly
Upon his knees.

He’s looking in the past, desperately trying.
The bird has flown, but he’s still gazing
Into her cage.

Now he sits alone.

It can happen, it’s true,
Love doesn’t always last forever;
Naivety can touch anyone
And leave you feeling blue.

And now he sits alone.

She said he said we said,
The stories become twisted, become lies,
Become lost,

The statue’s crumbling while he clutches the remains;
His love can’t bind them anymore.
This relic won’t be restored.

And still he sits alone.

It can happen, it’s true,
Love doesn’t always last forever;
Naivety can touch anyone
And leave you feeling blue.

And now we sit together, alone.
