Melodious imagination,
soundless singing,
choirs of the inner ear,
the song only you can hear.

Maybe this is what inspires
the canary to sing so sweetly,
you, who are what she hears,
the song all songbirds sing.

Inventors of beauty,
poets lost in thought,
mortal investors in truth,
delight in your silent songs.

These unrecorded melodies
we can hear so clearly,
the sweetest of them all
in these halls of silence.
