Melt The Bullets

*Another school shooting... it breaks my heart in ways that I cannot even begin to express. I hurt for those who draw the weapons. It is beyond awful when the pain and misunderstanding gets so bad that you feel you have no other choice and no one to turn to. I hurt for the victims and their families... it is a tragedy that no one should ever have to face. I hurt for our country and what we have become.*

I understand pain

I know how much living hurts

I stare death in the mirror daily

To its will I convert

I know that words are deadly

They cut like a knife

The power in them is poisonous

Overwhelming your life

I don't expect the world's acceptance

Hell, I'm my own worst enemy

I inflict more pain on myself

That you ever could, don't you see?

So I am at a loss for words

My own thoughts fail me now

And with a heavy heart

Beside my bed I bow

My tears spill from my soul

Raising up to heaven like a prayer

The cries from my heart

Become the plea in the air

How does it get so bad?

How does it cut so deep?

That the answer becomes violence

The solution an endless sleep

What drives someone to that point?

To storm the gates with guns

To hurt, to kill, to destroy lives

And take theirs when they are done

What have we become?

When our kids draw their weapons

Whey they destroy innocence

Peace is a sound now deaden

Life is a living hell

Of this I can guarantee

But there is no reason good enough

To draw a gun on innocence as your final decree

So melt the bullets

And lend an ear

Listen with your heart

Put an end to all violence here
