She silently rocks in her chair,
with loving memories of yesteryear.
Rubbing her hands through her gray hair,
longing for the man who called her dear.
A single tear streaks her face,
remembering their wedding day.
Fifty years they lived in the same place,
a home full of love and warmth.
Now her body filled with pain,
praying to be taken up above.
Wondering if the loneliness would drive her insane,
worried she was in her children's way.
Longing for the one man she had ever loved,
praying for the good Lord to take her above.
Now her life is lonely and full of fear,
she clings to her memories of yesteryear.

"Keep your photographs. . ."

Many have seen their senior loved ones in a similar position.

This is a sad, but good tribute to long love lost.

However, I think it might be improved poetically by breaking it into stanzas and keeping the A-B - A-B rhyme scheme throughout the poem.

The eighth through twelfth lines in particular weaken the flow of the work.

Seniors and anyone with seniors should appreciate the sentiment of this poem.

Thank you for expressing what so many must feel.
