Your dusty footprints will not fade away
nor may the rains efface them or the snows
obscure them from my view - they’d burn a trail
through any coat of snow. And when the light
holds silence on some hazy afternoon
when life seems almost tranquil and unhurt
all that imperfect beauty takes on names
and sets those dusty footprints out in flames.
