she kneels before me
I stroke her hair, smiling
looking into her eyes
then she turns, looks away
into the distance
slips away
mind out of body
gone

how to bring her back?
I tell her I love her
But it is not enough
and she stays lost

I remind her she is mine
that she belongs to me
but she does not hear

if she were here
I would force soul back into flesh
bringing life back to her face
I could do it with my eyes
and my voice
but all I have now are words

believe me, little one
come back to me
it will be alright
all of it
