Mistress Death

I wander through this life
Like a never ending song
Leaving destruction in my path
As I carry along

Everything I touch
Turns stone cold
It's my curse
Like King Midis' touch of gold

People get close to me
And end up in the grave
Try as I might
I fail to save

All life withers
Within my touch
All love decays
My poison is too much

So when you draw near
And you feel short of breath
Say your last words
For I am Mistress Death

I like your choice of words and rhymes, but the pace was a bit off for me in a couple stanzas (sentences too short followed by sentences too long).

Also:

"Like King Midis' touch of gold" -> King Midas?
