Muse's Phantom Promise

My Muse lie down
On pleasant ground
And happily showed me life.
Born from inner turmoil and strife
She promised me a loving wife.

One to share
And one to care
One to fight the cold.
One to Love and one to hold
Until we both turned old.

My Muse awoke the ground had changed
The spot she slept was now deranged
The Love and Laughter once present there
Had vanished in the damp evening air
To be captured never again.
