A prisoner of sorrow I don't want to be
That kind of life is not for me
Instead I long my eyes would open to see
The path that will set my heart free

I will somehow learn to love again
Despite my sorrow or hurt or pain
I will somehow learn to let go of the past
Because what happened then sure did not last

My demons at rest I will one day lay
Eventually things will have to go my way
For sorrow and darkness won't always fill my day
Not by what people will do or say

Nothing wrong with Hallmark

I like it; not the most powerful poem, but at least it has something to say.

I dread doing this...

But MrFaithful, what are you doing? I am serious, not being sarcastic. This is full of Hallmark sentiments, but lacks the quality. i.e. very heavily cliched, the only thing I can recommend is reading some real poetry.
