They are so young and sweet,
Daughter's that are petite,
Melt your heart and fill you with joy,
And wonder oh god why didn't I have a boy.

So full of energy and life,
I tell you they were out myself and my wife,
Running around getting into things,
Or one in particular who just loves to sing.

She'll stand on the stairs and belt out few notes,
Waiting to see reactions and get a good vote,
She waits for the claps and roars of applause,
Knowing she will get them just because.

The other loves to bang on the tiny piano,
Smiling up as she waves her arms to and fro,
She hits the keys with her own little joy,
That damn piano is her favorite toy.

But to watch them interact is my own little piece of happiness,
They giggle and hug and caress,
Tickle and laugh and play little games,
Even babbling out their own incoherent names.

The baby watches her sister with wide eyes,
Rocking with pleasure when her sister abides,
To take time and play with her just as she needs
Or Daddy puts one of them up on his knees.

I must saying being a father is my best accomplishment,
One I hold dear and something I know for which I was meant,
The tucking in at night and the sweet little kiss,
Can only be best known from your daughter's sweet lips.

That kiss on the cheek and the hug from her,
Little minds and eyes that always wonder,
What will happen when their doors are closed,
Daddy is only a cry out away this they both know.

When they are sick you feel their aches and pains,
Wishing you could fix it all in vain,
So I think still the greatest joy I have had,
Is hearing "Night, I love you Dad."

affectionate.

Is there any love greater than the love of daughters for their fathers. Their goodnights do in fact melt your heart - lighten your cares and give you that unbelievable sense of well being. Loved the little drawing.

absolutely lovely

MV, I have been reading your work for some time and I am impressed with your style of writing as well as your creativity. I'm sure you receive comments regarding your stories and such all of the time. Your poem is very heartening and lovely. I'm a parent myself and I feel the love for my daughter as you do for yours.

God bless you and your family!
