Mysterious Emotion

I taste you during your mad ascension;
  I feel your need to destroy my bleak life.
At times you exceed my comprehension
  With your bellicose needs for love and strife.
The scent of your aggression makes me ache;
I am the prisoner you always take.
Do you hate me or are you my angel
  Sent here to break me and restore my trust?
Or are you the seductress of fable
  Who would replace my faith with wicked lust?
When you give me more than I can handle
  I stay: though part from you I know I must.
    But maybe love need not be understood.
    Maybe it disappears for those would.

Nicely done. The sonnet seems to have fallen off its pedestal in modern poetry, at least for some, but I still like them when they don't sound like hyper-Victorian love poems. This doesn't. I like the tension in it, the desire masked as questions. I also like the way you switched the rhyme scheme starting in line 5 to include some internal rhyme, and near rhyme (angel, fable, handle). There was a little too much end stopping rhyme for my liking, although I did like line 6, and with the variations already mentioned, that's a quibble on my part.
