        you are gone
although once upon a time
we danced naked in the moonlight
with the sheer joy of discovery.
pagan rituals satisfied, we were blessed.
you now live out in the sunlight,
hard and distant, an undefined shadow in my mind.
       i still see you
god-like, worshipping your primitive goddess.
now proud and right while
i am deeply humbled and shamed,
aching for your missing touch -
powerful and strong as loving kindness flowed
and your arms always there.
       i still love you
although you no longer have a name, and
now are merely a whisper of air
scented of sand and surf and salt.
       you are truly gone.
