Never Enough

I gave my soul to be in love
With clarity I found it
Expectations from above
The angels cried to keep it
It came with a fever
Passion I'd never felt
So desperately I craved it
United in Passion
That shook heaven and earth
The angels cried to feel it

I've been marked inadequate
By love's forever song
Doomed again as not enough
How I've tried to reach it
From childhood to adulthood
Our Father don't forsake me
I know I'm sorely lacking
Three great loves have passed me

A father's love disowned me
While silently I cried
For a reason I shall name
I have never been enough
A tender heart, creative soul
Filled with yearning yet to live
Love is easy to profess
Yet hard it is to give
Its meaning is so trivial

Action behind the words I fear
I know I'm not enough
Couldn't I be allowed to drink
From passion's loving cup

As your need draws you near
Pleased you are that I am near
You need my soulful passion
Within delusion I shall thrive
Reality from my mind to hide
Pretending I'm enough
