The glistening beauty of new fallen snow
As it floats from heaven this night
Picks up the light from the moon above
And delights us with its dance of love

Each flake caresses the one beside it
Entwines itself with the mass, making love in the air
They tumble and mingle, two becoming one
Clinging together, awaiting the sun

They float on the breeze
Tossing to and fro as if giving birth
Like butterflies landing, ever so
Lightly stroking the earth

All through the night they lie together
Touching side by side, new flakes falling
Alighting on top, hiding the ones beneath
Fusing together like lovers

It gathers together
Reproducing it seems
Piling higher and higher
Like an orgasm, it screams

The dance of love continues
Although we cannot see
Snow is a fickle thing, it rises and falls
Like waves on the sea

Yet its beauty is a delight to behold
Like a lover in your hands it turns cold
It’s there for a moment and then it’s gone
Only a memory when you hear a song

Its cold, it’s dangerous
Its beauty does deceive
It will please you for a season then
Suddenly, it will leave

The sun rises on a brand new day
And shines on the white of the snow
Casting shadows here and there
As we warm ourselves by the fire’s glow

Our eyes gaze over the blanket of white
Each flake becoming a sparkling jewel
A chill runs up and down our spine
Before the wind begins to blow

Its brightness is dazzling, it hurts the eyes
Yet we smile at this morning’s surprise
Like a long lost lover we greet it with glee
And remember how it used to be

A Cardinal with its bright feathers of red
Lands in the snow covered tree outside the window
Reminding us that life goes on in spite
Of winters chill and dread

One day in the spring it will be gone
All the sparkling jewels becoming a watery pool
Birds will sing and flowers will sprout
Reminding all of earth’s renewal
