In the darkness I sit all alone.
In the light I lose all of my might.
Night’s cold will chill my bone.
Day’s hot rays cause me to hide in fright.

There was once a goddess who simmered in the night.
This goddess’ pale beauty was blinding in the day.
In the darkness she was always in my sight.
In the light only would I see that she was unreachable and far away.

In the darkness another goddess I once knew.
Like the light she was fiery and free.
In the night were things that together we would do.
Yet like the day she was untouchable to me.

The night put forth another goddess that I did meet.
Like the day this goddess easily conquered me.
In the darkness I was warmed by her heat.
In the light she would leave and become unattainable to me.

A broken man am I.
Only can I look upon my goddesses and sigh.
