Your bed is warm and
The deep flaxen glow of the indoor street
Lamp stretches around the corners
Of my outstretched limbs
Entwined with the wind
Wrapped around all this brown suede.
The beat of your heart is that same rush of warmth
It fills me drenched like the hot night
Engulfs my arrows of destination
Brings me back to your bed to soothe my aching soul
Let me dream of you beside me here
While I rest in the feel of you
Your arms around me while I drift into
The land the waking dream to enter
Shielded by you from the hydra headed monsters
That within us all lie dormant.
Content in knowing that I alone know the true combination of you
And that you alone know all that is me.
Past the stereotypes and sycophantic euphemisms
Here in the dream of your arms
Despite the lonely beat of my heart and
The half cool touch of the paler sheet
I have found my own nirvana
In the peace of your heart’s deliverance and
In the night glow trust of our tomorrow.
