You hear the sound
but can't make it out.
Everything seems strange
in the dark.
Sinister shadows on the wall
reaching, caressing you.
You shiver,
pull the blanket higher,
shut your eyes tighter,
but you still see.
You tell yourself
its only the night,
the day will erase the fear,
bringing light.
The waiting seems like forever,
doesn't it?
