you have not
brutally opened your body
and touched the words
like a blind man reading braille.
you've not yet translated
all of your holy text-
the unread portions
lingering in some distant dead sea.
i am going to rip open your
yellowed pages and force
you to read every line
aloud.
so we both may know
our salvation.
i want to scare you with yourself;
hold you after you've
collapsed from too much use-
and then rebind your cover
and set you on the shelf again,
reading your spine
over and over
in the darkness of my head.
