Not enough to make you stay

The sun sets-
Same as yesterday
The wind blows-
Just as before
The clarity that arises-
From one once adored
When he leaves you alone-
Broken heart at the door

Tears always come-
Salty water of pain
Followed by regret-
Too mountainous to name
All the silly clichés-
Fit perfectly here
I love him-I need him-
But he’s nowhere near

Open up a vein-
To truly feel the hurt
Crawl through muddy rivers-
To appreciate the wonder
No hesitation-
Eventually it will end
And then your heart-
Will heal again

A lifetime destroyed-
In a moment or two
Or it falls into ruin-
Over years of time
Love so eroded-
Dreams shattered and then-
broken hearts never
to be mended again

If I wake up crying-
It’s only for your touch
If I still cry at night-
I miss your voice too much
I’m sorry I gave my heart-
So foolishly away
Sorry I loved you too much-
But not enough to make you stay

Hauntingly Beautiful

This says so much, the heartache and sure knowledge that the world around us and time is forever moving on, yet some joy and pain is forever despite the dimming of time.
