NOT RESPONDING
Thirteenth of August, my phone is ringing,
I'm music-making, what do they want?
I see my caller, she must be sinking,
I do not answer, I don’t respond.
She's my ex-lover, what is the matter?
She is ok, or so I hope,
Maybe she's thinner, maybe she's fatter,
But speaking with her, I cannot cope.
She has forgotten a wish to send me,
Ten days later she rings the bell,
Careless to hurt me, or to offend me,
Let her just vanish and go to hell.
Again she tries, I'm not responding,
I have a lover all bright and new,
Her secret wishes I'm still encoding,
To dream and love her, my only dew.
I have a life, I have a feeling,
I have an evening with some old friends,
I cannot see you, I'm under healing,
I hope you stop it, your call offends.
The phone is ringing, third time trying,
I have a lover, you have no luck,
In her blue skies I'm high flying,
From your dark times I'm now unstuck.
My music evening is interrupted,
My concentration on my guitar,
My even temper justly erupted,
I grub my handy and throw it far.
My friends are laughing as it goes flying,
Some twenty metres or even more,
So let it die, like love is dying,
Leave it forgotten on this sea shore.
My mood is spoiled just for a while,
Then I forget it and carry on,
Back comes the music, also my smile,
I'll get tomorrow a brand new phone.
