Nouveau Art

Nouveau Art

New works of art glitter in the lights,
painted on interstates: prisms sprayed on concrete,
rainbow colors framed in flowing red
and flashing strobes.

Brush stroked landscapes with twisted rails,
shattered trees and broken walls: a study in mass
and acceleration (deceleration),
black lines on stark white.

Nouveau art, sculpted by the masses,
oxidizes on torn metal flake. Patchwork lines
stitched where cheek met glass,
both yield in the name of art.

Twisted metal, shattered bone, bodies take new form,
sculptures limp, braces creak, chairs roll,
in celebration of speed and power;
where man and machine became art--
violently.
