In evening time, in autumn grey I sit
Lingering by embers glow and ponder
On the warmth that makes my heart submit.
Visions too, my lust for you no wonder,
Enter unbidden and give sudden rise,
Slow strong and sure to love’s velvet totem;
How did you reach me? Awaken such sighs?
Each look, touch, sound, writes for me a poem
Resonating in chambers of my heart.
It might have been the garden, flower scents
Left on the breeze, not to be told apart,
Or from you; the whole a lover’s incense.
So now in chill November, warm in thought
Happy to be yours, and in love’s net caught.
