Fall forward
leaft left piled as lawn clippings
silvered sachets of human hair
tossed out years old yearbooks
finding a flickr of an old friend
somewhere summer has been abandoned
what ever fruit there was burns shriveled
slow danced in earth's ever eastward song
and I too have turned

Ah me oh my
how a living face of dead friendship
stirs from sleep the heart I buried
along side nosey gnomes in the lawn out back
a sad monster movie doomed to late nights
here was once a fire full of furtive fancy
strings that would pull to fall a swimsuit
or lead to an abandoned bedroom
giving rise to a stiff salt living sea
searching for our dreams at horizon's Orion

But that never happened
what was was simply a passing past
she would call me lover left over friend
and now not so much even that
an old age fantasy vinegaring
from might's might to cold could
singing snatches of a very good year
picturing unfounded treasures buried
dredging dragged dregs of a troll's line
lonely in my if only if only if onlly
