Obsession

If I could have you in my reality
As I have held you in my dreams,
Would my obsession for you fade?

If I met you, and you extended your hand,
In a warm greeting, holding mine strongly,
Would my hand tremble with tell-tale emotion?

Would my legs keep me standing
As I gazed into your smiling blue eyes,
Searching for something...or nothing..?

Could I trace the fullness of your mouth,
Touch the minor flaw of scarring on your lip,
Caress the cleft of your chin?

Would your face be whiskered, or smooth,
Or somewhere in between?
Could I brush your errant hair from your forehead?

I've seen you in hundreds of photos,
A hundred different men, and
I love them all.

I see your gentleness
Your callousness
Your love and your hate.

You are a master of it all
And I want it all with you.
I dream of being your leading lady.

I've wept reading your poetry,
Marveled at your photography
And watched you act your heart out.

You are a man of many talents,
A beautiful piece of work
And I envy those close to you.

We could meet, you know.
We don't live that far apart ...
I know your favorite haunts.

But would meeting you
Change my feelings
And end my obssession?

I would rather remain in your life
As a secret admirer, one you will never know,
Than to take that chance.

I will continue fantasizing about
Your lips on mine, as I close my eyes,
And think it's you making love to me.

Isnt it...

odd, that the element of fantasy, far out-weighs the reality

It is as if you finally meet that someone, it would take all the thrill out of it, thereby shattering what was a wonderful thing. Surprise is exciting, and what we can dream in our minds- well that is what keeps the heart and soul alive, I love your poem, LLB... and welcome to LIT !!

Fantasy my dear is a wonderful thing in it's place but it doesn't keep you warm at night ...
