In the darkness I do wish
Wish for one that has the key
The key to my captive heart
A heart chained by discontent and despair

In the blood red wine I see her
She pours over my being with her intoxicating essence
The essence that chases away the chill of loneliness
Loneliness that plagues my very soul

In the form of black roses they have come
Came the key keepers that had the promising form
The black rose form that proved true to function
The function that draws one in with beauty only to prick the one who tries to touch

I keep my black roses in my garden tending to their needs as best I can
Always admiring but never touching
Longing for my blood red wine
Picking up new black roses every time I think the blood red wine is mine
