You kneel at our feet, bound naked in your gilded chains
Hair damp and skin glistening with the sweat of anticipation
--The very visage of Cleopatra paying hommage to Rome--
Portraying the epitome of humility and servitude
Your sole purpose is to please, to strive so very hard to obey and to heed
Trembling, you whisper your sweetest pleas, in the hopes they will sweeten our ears
No pride, no honor, no sense of self exists beyond what we would allow
Wishing to stir our hearts to mercy, yet hoping conversely that we will have none

And yet, when we fall silent to contemplate your fate
When we allow you to creep close on penitent knees
When we let you lay your head in our laps, seeking comfort
When we stroke your hair, and gentle your tremors
When you arch your back from the nails we stroke and scratch up your spine, evoking response
It is our wrists 'round which your fetters are clasped
And our feet that are chained in place for hours upon end
As we bow humbly to the lash of your sweet siren call

Composing the ecstasies you inspire...
