Depression grinds me down
Like a peppercorn in a mill
Squeezing creativity out
As if treading grapes

Random thoughts flood the ether
Clinging to receptive brains
Flowing, sand like,
Through the fibres of the mind

Filtered by our feelings
These thoughts reside
In the depths of us
Until the time is right

Contemplative, we sit,
Waiting for inspiration
Relying on emotion
To choose a direction

Happy? Sad? Joy? Pain?
These fuel our efforts
Expressions of our psyche
Manifested on the page

Love it? Hate it?
Do I really care?
It’s just a release for me
A way to vent hot air

So read, or don’t
I’ll just carry on
While I hurt I write
This pain just sits so deep.
