Clothes, hair strands and personal items strewn about like scenes from some police procedural.
Your body curled up on the couch morning after morning.
Words never spoken.
Some perhaps best left unspoken
but can't we at least get along?

"I've seen their type before," we both think to ourselves, unable to attempt to overcome the confluence of circumstances and assumptions that have caused our paths to momentarily converge.

Perhaps we could have been friends.
To hope for more would be the epitome of deluded hubris.
So for now
until our inevitable, irrevocable parting of ways we remain comfortably at odds.

I enjoyed reading this and agree that it's a realistic portrayal. Love that last line too!

That title grabbed me

Could have gone so many ways. "comfortably at odds" is a great summation.
