Pantoum for K.B.

bydemure101©

Thank God I'll see your pretty smile tonight -
the morning is still young, my throat feels tight,
The day lies cold and empty, clear and bright
and speaks of joys to come with its clear light.

I drew the curtains, shook myself awake -
the morning is still young, my throat feels tight,
but springtime sunlight sparkles on the lake
and speaks of joys to come with its clear light.

I feared the icy winter would return;
I drew the curtains, shook myself awake -
the fierce, white daylight makes my eyeballs burn
but springtime sunlight sparkles on the lake.

I feared the icy winter would return;
The day lies cold and empty, clear and bright
the fierce, white daylight makes my eyeballs burn...
Thank God I'll see your pretty smile tonight .
